Mignon’s Journal – Entry Three
Entry Three: Spring – Year 847 of the 4th Age.
I need new companions… These ones are too much trouble to be worth traveling with. It seems everyone we meet has a history with one of them. A history which gets us into pointless fights. I’m getting sick of all the drama. You don’t see people wanting me dead, and I’m the evil one. Well, there is Ms. Julia. She might not recognize me though. That was from back when I was Seria…
She was just some village girl a few years younger than me. The local Duke or Magistrate or whatever he was called had kidnapped her. Those guys are always perverts. She was a cute girl though, I guess. If that’s what you’re in to. Anyway, I happened to be cleaning the place out when I came across her. I’m not totally without morals so I let her out and brought her back to her village. I guess she took a liking to me. A very creepy stalker-like liking. She followed me around for a few months. In retrospect she wasn’t a bad girl. She kept up with me quite well. This was in my early loner, petty theft days though. Back then I didn’t appreciate or need allies. So I agreed to teach her the ways of the thief and sent her off to steal something that was obviously beyond her skill level. Then I left town. I kind of feel bad for the poor girl. She was caught and faced some jail time. I think they were lenient on her because she was so young.
A few months later I came across her again. Her time in the cells must have made her wiser as she realized I had intentionally got her jailed just to get her away from me. Suffice to say she wasn’t happy and pretty much hated me. She vowed to take me and my guild down. I doubt she could, although she shouldn’t be underestimated. Anyway, to be safe I changed my name to Mignon. I also grew out my hair and it wasn’t long after that that I obtained my hat. Last I heard she was a bounty hunter. Good thing I don’t have a bounty on my head.
So, Tim, today’s lesson is to not be a bitch. I know it can be hard not to, but it might just come back to capture and jail you. I should probably follow my own advice more on this one..
