Paper Planes in the Rain

Like a killer taking his sins to the grave.
Like a mother mourning the mistakes she has made.
Time is just memories and tragedies,
And several things we can never get back.

The people. The places.
From the ones you thought loved you, to the ones that you hated.
They all fade the same,
as time rushes by in the blink of an eye.

We’re all just lost in the current,
living moment to moment,
Right until the moments stop.
Fading and jaded.
We’re all paper planes left out in the rain.

The memories. The faces.
From each loving embrace to all the bitter tastes.
They all fade the same,
as time rushes by in the blink of an eye.

Don’t just furl your feathers, whether sun or stormy weather.
The future is a formless face, a slight misstep in time’s smooth gait.
Light shines from the past.
Light shines from the past.

We’re all just lost in the current,
living moment to moment,
Right until the moments stop.
Fading and jaded.
We’re all paper planes left out in the pouring rain.

Everything but you was a waste.
Everything but you was a waste.
It all fades away every single day.
It is only images of you that remain.
But I’m still just a paper plane left out on a rainy day.
