Simply Complicated, Captain
I used to think life was so complicated.
Stuck between the safety of the past and the bulk of the great unknown.
Oh, but it’s really all so simple, you know,? oh, you know.
If I made you a telescope that saw out past the moon and right past Mars,
out to those other molten rocks floating ’round distant stars.
You know what we would see when we looked up at all the fuss?
We would see other wanderin’ souls that feel just like us.
Lost, tired and waiting.
Corrupt, broken or fading?
Moments forever wasted.
Time ever waning.
If you still think life is complicated,
Well just take a deep breath,
and think about the way we feel, together.
‘Cause that is reality. It’s perspicuous, crystal clear, and plain as day.
and all those other things people say to claim they understand okay.
It’s not okay,
To waste,
A day,
Like today.
So open up your mouth and say,
The things,
You know you should say.
Open up your heart,
there is no time to spare.
Let me hear your voice,
Let me know you really care.
‘Cause its all so simple we’re all just hearts floatin’ around.
We’re all just space dust that really just wants to get down.
‘Cause when I see your face I don’t think of fiscal charts,
Poison darts,
Or fresh starts.
I just think about us together in the dust.
The dust, the dust, the dust, the dust.
Stop actin’ like we’ve been crushed,
To dust, to dust, to dust, to dust.
In this cold reality, for us, all we trust,
is dust, is dust, is dust, is dust.
