The Minnow and the Fox
There once was a strange little minnow who loved to sing.
Her mother was a singer too, like bells her voice did ring.
But the blibs and the blubs of the river tongue were hard to use.
The minnow wanted to go up on land, and maybe even wear shoes!
But the minnow was not ready, or so her mother did fear.
The minnow practiced and her voice became ever so pure!
“I suppose I must let you go” her mother eventually did say.
So the minnow adventured out upon land that very same day!
She flipped and she flopped and she bumbled and bopped.
Every fish out of water at first flails like a flounder.
But the minnow had faith in herself and never stopped.
So she wandered the woods until a clearing did surround her.
The people, they went this way and that,
This place had everything, even stores of nice hats!
The minnow sang in the center with all she could,
And as she sang another soul did exit the wood.
A handsome young fox rode forth on his steed.
A fox of fortitude, who always did good deeds!
The fox’s keen ears caught wind of her song,
and he listened intently and even hummed along!
The minnow and the fox, they sure hit if off.
Best friends they became, and at danger they did scoff!
They traveled the world from east to west
At righting all wrongs, they were surely the best!
But things have a way of changing, and for the minnow changes never hid.
The two had an argument over if it was really good that she did.
So the two parted ways and the minnow was lost
As she wandered her once lovely songs became chilled with frost.
The minnow flopped right into a trap, a hunter’s snare
The minnow was placed in an empty cell, at the walls she did stare.
To the castle of a general she was soon sold.
The minnow had lost her way, she was no longer bold.
She went to meet the master of this old castle
This all really was well and dearly a hassle
it turned out he was a snake the size of a horse!
And he had a thing for young minnows, oh! of course!
Here the minnow met 3 of her own.
Lost sisters she had never even known.
She knew then that she would have to fight back,
but she had no idea for a plan of attack.
But in burst the fox with his mighty spear,
He easily knocked that bad snake on his equivalent of a rear!
He slew that evil in one clean thrust.
The minnow never lost faith, in the fox she would always trust.
The others were set free, but the fox and the minnow remained.
He took her by the hand, jumped on his horse and grabbed the reigns.
They rode off just as the night was getting late,
and so the minnow said “I think this counts as our first date!”
Their love would last a lifetime, it was oh so true.
They traveled together and time sure flew!
Once the fox was willing to retire and put down his lance,
The pair opened a tavern to entertain with wine, song and dance!
And when the minnow finally saw her dear mother again,
The mother no longer saw a bumbling daughter, but an equal. A friend!
Thus ends our tale of Ms. Minnow and Sir Fox, it will never get old.
Now its time for you, the crowd, to shower me with fresh apples and gold!
