Entry 1:

This town is just like the others. Morals and pointless rituals for the dead are stopping the advance of knowledge, and the nobles are nothing but foolish cowards. They do not realize that humanity is set back a week of progress every time my day is wasted. What seemed like a simple guard job went awry and I didn’t receive my promised pay, but it wasn’t all bad since it seems this city is absolutely teeming with undead, so maybe it won’t be a waste after all. Someone else in the area understands the potential of the dead. I have witnessed a sight unlike those I have seen before, an army of the dead marching out from the ocean in cadence, their bubbly and rotting flesh oddly preserved by the ocean’s gift of salt. Undead are not my favorite, but it was still almost too much to take. I haven’t been this ecstatic and giddy since my days running experiments in the cabin. I must meet the controller of these undead. Yes…

I’m traveling with two others, though in time they shall leave me like those before. Although according to a mysterious being I encountered the three of us are special. Of course I am special, but perhaps we three are linked. Perhaps I have finally found those who will accept me.

Irena is a half-elf. A miracle of evolution. She is the muscle, although they all seem to think she is also the brains. I could not care less and shall humor them for now. She’s amazingly strong and quite useful. With one quick movement, like that jolt of stored energy that moves the limb of a dead man, she can cleave multiple foes in two. She’s a simple and earnest woman, and even though I sometimes haven’t the slightest of what she is saying, it is refreshing to talk to one who simply states whatever is on her mind. We share a distaste for the politics and twisting words that so many imbeciles try and use in conversation to make themselves appear more intelligent.

The second is Rena. Between her and Irena I think they might reach the intelligence of one normal person, so it is good that I am around. Rena is similar to Irena, except she can be more deceiving, and is quite good with words. A skill I do envy. She is an attractive girl, with skin devoid of blemishes, which when used well is a trait almost as useful as strength or intelligence. Something is off about her though, I would like to explore her insides and see what makes her tick, of course in this particular case I do prefer her alive. Her actions may hide her true potential. As they say, one can never judge a book by its cover. One can never judge a human by their flesh, no matter how perfect it seems. I am oddly compelled to touch it.

They agreed quickly to offering our services to this necromancer, so I have high hopes for the pair. They may not be intellectuals, but their help will do more for the world then they will ever know.
